CLEO Nerve Monitor

CLEO is a 2 channel EMG nerve monitor with an integrated stimulator. It has been designed to meet the needs of the operating team by enabling continuous monitoring of motor neural pathways which are at risk during surgical procedures.

The device delivers an optical and acoustic signal of muscle activity, which is sensed by needle electrodes placed into the relevant muscles controlled by those nerves to be monitored. Continuous monitoring assists in the prevention of injuries. Manipulations near the nerve at risk cause associated motor units to contract. The instrument emits a specific tone in which the volume is proportional to the intensity of the motor response. The nerve may also be directly stimulated using a small current via a stimulation probe. Thus nervous tissue can be identified and localised with a stimulation probe.

The CLEO is equipped with a channel identification system with conditioned filters. This enables the surgeon to identify the stimulated nerves without looking at the device. Two bar graphs with up to 20 segments each display EMG activity.

Characteristics

  • Audio feedback and interface for automatic signal analysis and documentation
  • Auto Mute function to suppress background noises and coagulation artifacts without RF mute sensor.
  • Continuous or automatic set up of stimulation
  • Analog-output to distribute measured EMG signals and chosen stimulation current or documentation of stimulation and EMG response via Docubox.
  • Wide range of disposable and reusable accessories.

Applications

CLEO nerve monitors have been successfully used to identify, to protect nerve paths and for atraumatic nerve mobilisation during following surgical interventions:
